2008 B.A. (ie before atlanta)

I found my camera! YAY! Here are some photos taken moving week ...

Hannah fell fast asleep on the way to pick up the moving truck ...
... as did her sister ... my neighbor was outside and came over to see them and he said ... "now THAT is a set of identical twins!" ... they had their heads lolled in the same direction and the same lip pooch ... the matching PJs contributed, too, I'm sure!
I told Hannah that dirt did not taste good, but she had to see for herself!
With Grandmama & Granddaddy Wright at their cousin Brayden's birthday party ...
Three babies in a row ... at the Whitaker's house ... one of our stops along the way to Atlanta!

what? no pictures?

I still can't find my camera! I think this is the longest my girls have ever gone without their photo taken! Just wanted to post to update you on how we are doing! Hannah has been really struggling since we got here. Really, since we left NC. She cannot stand to have me out of her sight for even a moment. I usually just carry her around wherever I go. Then, two days ago, I noticed that her 4th tooth has popped through. Maybe in a few days the teething pain will wear off and she will be more accustomed to her new home and we can all breathe a little easier! She has been walking a little with the push toy though it scared her at first because it goes so fast. She is the world's most giving person (as far as feeding her snack to the dog and constantly trying to put her binky in my mouth, or Meredith's mouth) and I have decided that she may just be my quiet one. She doesn't talk much but can get her point across when it is really important to her (like MOMMY,PICK ME UP!) Meredith's playful personality is really coming out. She has all kinds of neat tricks! She chit chats all day long. She can wave hi and bye-bye. She can ALMOST blow a kiss. She can point at the light or doggie when you ask her where they are. I created a monster by letting her turn the light off one day ... and yep, now all day she wants to turn the light on and off. She is constantly pointing at things and asking "dat?" She loves anything soft and will lay down on a blanket on the floor and roll around on it. She crawled all the way up the stairs today (with Alan right behind her, of course). She has a push toy and walks marathons with that thing ... and anything else she can get to slide across the floor ... a box of diapers, the toy bin ... Meredith and Hannah have started to play more together, too. They have a tunnel and they think it is hilarious to hide in there and then peek out at each other. It is the cutest thing I have seen yet about having twins. One will get in the tunnel and slowly peek out at the other and then they both literally fall over in a fit of giggles! The giggly girls are worth the fussy ones any day! I will either find my camera or borrow one soon and especially by their birthday. I can't believe they are almost a year old! So stay tuned for photos!

hello from Atlanta!

As you can imagine, I have a bazillion things I could be doing, but thought I would take a moment and update the blog! My wonderful Mom came to help us get settled and luckily brought her camera because I have not taken one photo since we have been here! Very unlike me! The truth is, I have no clue where my camera is =) The house is big, which is nice. However, it was also a complete mess when we got here and I am still trying to clean all the floors and bathrooms. Trying to scrub while also the normal moving in stuff doesn't allow much time for anything else, however we have been to the Dekalb Farmer's Market (which I was told, by my brother who has been very helpful, that it is pronounced De-CAB), the Lenox Square Mall (which thank goodness isn't as close as the mall was in NC because Alan would have to moonlight all the time to support my shopping if it was =), the Avondale Estates Lake (which is only a short walk from the house), and various other places around town. Here are a few photos ... I will take more as we get settled and all unpacked. It is really a cool old house! We have a nice koi pond in the back which is very relaxing to watch after a long day of dealing with fussy girls (they don't seem to handle change any better than their Mommy does)!

The girls' room

Whew, we were all exhausted, as you can see ...
After a thorough scrubbing ... the tub, that is!
There is a finished basement which we have made into a playroom. The girls seem to love that there is a room just for them! Yes, that is me, that looks like a carcass on the floor?! Who knows what I was doing ...

pool & packing

This may be the last post from NC! We move to Atlanta in less than a week! As you can imagine ... packing and moving ourselves is going to be quite a feat with two little ones! I hope the girls do well with the move and are happy in our new house. I am a little sad and sentimental about leaving our home!
Hannah's old man grin!
Meredith is deep in thought ... actually she was watching her Dad shop-vac the grill ... but we can always claim that she was searching for the deeper meaning in life rather than trying to figure out what that annoying noise was!
How much watermelon can I fit in here??? Looks like Meredith has Hannah beat though Hannah isn't taking the defeat lying down! Meredith tends to do that ... eat like a chipmunk and store food in her cheeks!?
We are enjoying the move so far ... LOTS of boxes to pull up on!
You aren't supposed to pack them in boxes? Carseats? What?! Meredith isn't looking too sure about the situation ... Hannah is happy as long as she has her random favorite object of the day ... one day it is a plastic tablespoon, another day an empty bottle of Baby Tylenol, another day ... like this one, it is a bottle of hand sanitizer ... anything small that she can hold and crawl around with ... weirdo!

Hannah is 15 pounds 15 ounces, 26 inches and Meredith is 15 pounds 14 ounces 26 1/2 inches. Getting SO BIG! Mommy could tell yesterday as I carried them both around the house b/c neither would let me put them down without screaming! My arms are SORE today! Meredith is crusing, saying Mama (not at me yet), Dada (not at Alan yet), and Yum Yum (when she is eating something she likes though it sounds like Num Num) and waving hi and bye. Hannah is letting go when she pulls up and clapping when you say "YAY!"
sisterly playing ... they were laughing hysterically pulling this string back and forth ... the random things they like?!?!
ugh oh ... time to put up the gate!
where there is one ... there are two!
taken from my phone ... so not the greatest quality ... but they are such cute little messes! Those teething biscuits are a mess! Hannah has 3 teeth and Meredith has 2.
and the diaper changing wars begin!
they LOVE to play with the dog! they know what to do with his toy ...
Meredith says ... Cooper ... don't you want this? She picks it up and waves it at him when she wants him to play.
two against one!

The girls are EVERYWHERE these days! They thunder around chasing each other, the dog, me ... whatever is top on their priority list at the given moment. Thanks to separation anxiety, it is usually me, and if I am too fast for them, tears ensue. As my Pediatrician says, "that stage usually fades around a year old, and then you are really sad that they aren't so attached to you anymore." As Alan says, "she's got you nailed." And he is right =) They are pulling up on anything they can get their little sticky hands on! They are just too cute and growing up so fast!

Hannah's serious face ...
Meredith is my smiley girl! She is always smiling and sometimes just crawls around giggling for no apparent reason! I love it!
Hannah's extreme concentration face. Her Dad makes a very similar one!
This is what happens when you fall asleep sitting up (Hannah)
Bubbles! The girls have graduated to the 'big girl' tub. Though it is a little frightening when I am bathing them solo ... mainly because they want to pull up on the side of the tub all the time ... but we have a cusion pad for the bottom of the tub in case of falls and I do the best I can with keeping them entertained in a sitting position ...
I told you ... all smiles ... most of the time (Meredith)!
Hannah
It turns out that standing up and chucking things out of the crib (including the favorite loveys and all the binkys ...) is WAY more fun than sleeping! Naps and night have taken a bit of a hit with all the new talents ... but maybe after a few more weeks the newness will wear off and we will get back to our previous 'sleep training has paid off' babies with good nap and night habits. Won't come too soon for us! I hate to hear them cry!!!
Toofies! Hannah has two in the bottom ... one almost all the way and the other right behind it. She also has a canine coming in the top. Meredith has 2 that have popped through on the bottom. No sign of top teething yet.

getting so big!

Hannah is trying to pull up on a not-so-sturdy "object" ...
I have so many photos of Meredith sleeping, thought I would throw one in of Hannah ... is she trying to smother herself here? As if we Mommys don't have enough to worry about!
Putting Hannah to work entertaining the dog ... hmmm ... this could be good!
all we want to do is STAND UP!!! Here is Meredith ...
Hannah ...
Ooo la la! Sometimes, by the end of the day, there is more food on their clothes than in my whole fridge ... so we end up playing in diapers! Hannah is the one who can stand AND turn. Meredith loses her balance still.
